SNAP – Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Snap) also referred to as Food Stamps, works to assist participants in gaining skills, training, experience and/ or employment to increase ability to gain self-sufficiency.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a mandatory program designed to assist those that are receiving food stamp benefits from the state of Florida transition into the world of work and into self-sufficiency. Someone interested in applying for food stamp benefits will first need to complete an application through the Department of Children & Families. If referred to the SNAP E&T program at CareerSource Pasco Hernando, you will need to complete the SNAP orientation, assessment, and schedule appointment session online. Once completed, you will be required to attend an informational meeting; once a part of the SNAP E&T program, you will be assigned an activity such as job search or work experience for 80 hours monthly. If you complete your assigned activity, you may be eligible to receive a FSR (food stamp reimbursement) to help with your travel costs.
