Veteran Employment Services

CareerSource Pasco Hernando One-Stop offers a wealth of resources, including specialized Local Veterans Employment Representatives (LVER) and Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) staff who work solely with the veteran population and can provide veteran applicant referral. Veterans can work with a veteran's employment specialist to find jobs, acquire skills and education, plan a career, attend workshops, and take advantage of many other resources.

Specialized Veterans Programs
Veterans Employment Representatives can provide additional information on the following programs:

VA Work Study Program
This program is available to any student receiving VA education benefits by attending school three-quarter time or more. An individual working under this program may work at the school veterans’ office, VA regional office, VA medical facilities, or at approved state employment offices. Work-study students are paid at either the state or federal minimum wage, whichever is greater.

VA Chapter 31 Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment Program
Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) is the VA program that assists veterans with service connected disabilities to obtain employment or enhance their ability to function independently at home and in the community. Vocational and educational guidance is available to assist service-members, veterans, and certain dependents of veterans in their career goals..

Dependents Education Assistance
The VA provides educational and training benefits to eligible dependents of veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a service-related condition, or who died while on active duty or due to a service-related condition. The program offers up to 45 months of educational benefits. These benefits may be used for degree and certificate programs, and registered apprenticeships. If you are a spouse, you may take a correspondence course. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances. Troops to Teachers
A veteran can receive up to $5,000 to pay for teacher certification and a $10,000 bonus for teaching in a "high needs" school. Placement assistance and referral services are available to help identify employment opportunities and teacher certification. For more information visit: http://www.proudtoserveagain.com/

U.S. Postal Service
If you are a recently discharged veteran (within 120 days of discharge) or a disabled veteran receiving VA disability benefits and are interested in a career with the U.S. Postal Service you can call (800) 275-8777 for employment information or you can visit their website at: www.usps.com/employment

The e-VETS Resource Advisor
The e-Vets Resource Advisor assists veterans preparing to enter the civilian job market. The website provides information on a broad range of topics, including job search tools and tips, employment openings, career assessment, education and training, benefits, and special services all available to veterans.
